I was in a Bible study today and the question came up, how often are we thinking about what God wants? Most people think about what they want 90% of the time. (and, and a friend of mine noted, 90% of statistics are made up on the spot) But we tend to think about what we want to eat, wear, do, take care of, etc. We are constantly thinking about ourselves. What we want. I recently have been challenged by a concept that if we spent even a small fraction of the time we spend thinking about ourselves, thinking about what others want, we would soon become a pretty considerate person and be much closer to loving others the way Christ loves them. Talking to them about things the other person wants to talk about, or giving them something they actually want or need, has much more impact than just doing something random that you think would be nice. The motivation is thinking “How can I say or do something that would make this person’s day?” If we apply this mindset to God, and ask ourselves “How can I make God’s day?”, what would that be like? Can you make God’s day? What does God really want, or what would make His day? I know God is much bigger than we are, but I think He would be pleased with us trying to do something that would make His day.

and find out what pleases the Lord.
